Privacy Policy

This page explains what VanDuzerArt, LLC learns about you when you visit vanduzerart.com, buy a print, or get in touch, and what happens to that information afterward. “We” and “us” below mean VanDuzerArt, LLC.

The short version

• This site runs no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no social media pixels. Shopify’s checkout runs its own, as explained under Cookies.
• It sets one cookie, and that cookie’s only job is remembering your cart.
• Checkout and payment happen on Shopify. Your card number never reaches our server.
• We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.

What we collect

It depends on what you do here.

When you browse

Like nearly every website, ours keeps standard server logs: your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for, and when you asked. Those logs exist to keep the site secure and working.

The artwork images are served from Shopify’s image network, so when a print loads, Shopify also receives your IP address and browser details.

When you add a print to your cart

Your cart lives with Shopify. It holds the prints you picked and how many of each. This site stores a cookie that points to that cart, so it’s still there when you come back. At this stage we don’t know your name or your email address.

When you check out

Checkout runs on Shopify at shop.vanduzerart.com. There you give your name, email address, shipping address, and billing address, plus a phone number if you choose to. Your payment details go directly to Shopify and its payment processors. We receive the order details we need to print and ship your piece, and we never see your full card number.

If you pay with an express option such as Shop Pay, that service handles your details under its own terms.

When you contact us

When you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write. For a commission, that may include photos you send and details about the person the piece is for. We use those only to discuss and make the piece.

How we use it

• To print, pack, and ship your order.
• To send your order confirmation and shipping updates.
• To answer your questions and work out commissions with you.
• To keep the records that tax and accounting law require.
• To keep the site secure and running, and to spot fraud.

We don’t send marketing email unless you ask for it. If checkout offers a box for news about new prints and you tick it, you’ll hear from us now and then, and every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.

Who else handles it

A small shop runs on a few outside services. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job.

• Shopify runs our store, cart, checkout, and payments, keeps order records, and sends order emails. Shopify’s own privacy policy covers how it handles that information.
• DreamHost hosts this website, keeps its server logs, and delivers messages sent through our contact form to our inbox.
• Google hosts our Gmail inbox, which stores the email we exchange with you.
• Shipping carriers receive your name and shipping address so they can deliver your print.

We would also disclose information if the law required it, or to protect against fraud. If VanDuzerArt, LLC were ever sold, customer records would go with the business, and this policy would still apply to them.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie of its own.

vda_cart remembers which Shopify cart is yours, how many items are in it, and the link to its checkout. It expires 14 days after you last used your cart, or sooner if Shopify clears the cart. Scripts on the page can’t read it, and it isn’t used to track you. The cart can’t work without it.

Shopify’s store and checkout at shop.vanduzerart.com set cookies of their own. They run checkout securely and prevent fraud, and Shopify also uses them for its own analytics and marketing measurement. Shopify’s privacy policy covers those.

There are no analytics, advertising, or social media cookies here. If you block cookies, you can still browse every print, but your cart won’t remember what you add.

Because this site doesn’t track you across other websites, browser signals such as Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track have nothing to switch off here.

How long we keep it

• Orders: as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is usually several years.
• Messages: as long as it takes to answer you, finish a commission, or follow up on an order.
• Server logs: a limited period set by our host, for security and troubleshooting.
• Carts: Shopify clears idle carts after about ten days.

How we protect it

Every page on this site is served over an encrypted connection. Payments go through Shopify’s checkout, which meets the card industry’s security standard, PCI DSS. Our own server stores no customer database, no order history, and no payment details. The less we hold, the less there is to lose.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we have about you.
• Correct anything that’s wrong.
• Delete it, apart from records the law requires us to keep.
• Stop sending you marketing email.

Email vanduzerart@gmail.com from the address you used with us, and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you write from a different address, we may ask you to confirm the request is yours before we act on it.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR may give you further rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We offer the rights above to everyone, wherever they live, and we will never treat you differently for using them.

Where your information is processed

We’re based in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you visit or order from outside the United States, your information will be transferred there.

Children

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When the way we handle information changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. We won’t use information you have already given us in a materially different way without asking you first.
