Mike Ditka - Chicago Bears
Mike Ditka started his NFL Playing career with the Chicago Bears. He was a member of the team from 1961 thru the 1967 season. He left the NFL and signed with the Houston Oilers of the AFL in 1968. The AFL and the NFL merged and his contract was bought by Philadelphia. He spent one season at Philadelphia before being traded to Dallas in 1969. He played in 2 superbowls for Dallas and was a member of the Championship 1971 team.
After Ditka retired he began his coaching career in Dallas as an assistant to Tom Landry. He mended fences with George Halas, owner of the Bears and was hired as head coach starting in the 1982 season. His teams won the division Championship five times in the 1980s and won the Superbowl in 1985. He left Chicago after a disastrous 1992 season and spent three more seasons as coach of the New Orleans saints before retiring.
Iron Mike is a beloved Chicago Sports figure. His playing number (#89) was retired by the Bears in 2013.
